Former Moroccan Minister Faces Trial on Multiple Charges Including Defamation and Adultery

This Thursday, December 9, the trial of former Minister of Human Rights, Mohamed Ziane is due to open before the Court of First Instance in Rabat. The former Bar Association president is being prosecuted, among other things, for defamation and contempt of the judiciary.
The 78-year-old lawyer, who is being prosecuted while at liberty, will be tried on 11 counts, including "contempt of public officials and the judiciary", "insult against a constituted body", "defamation", "adultery", "contempt of court" or even "sexual harassment".
In response to these accusations, the Ministry of the Interior had filed a complaint in January 2021 "based on concrete material facts, through which state institutions have been offended through the dissemination of false accusations and allegations, punishable by the Penal Code," it was stated in a press release.
