A former Moroccan minister faces judges for corruption

Suspected of financial irregularities in his management of the municipality of Fkir Ben Salah, the former minister Mohamed Moubdii, currently in prison, could soon appear before the courts.
The investigating judge at the Casablanca Court of Appeal has finished examining the case of the former municipal president, say sources close to the case to Hespress, specifying that Mohamed Moubdii, accused of "embezzlement of public funds, abuse of power, corruption and forgery of official, commercial and administrative documents", has already undergone several interrogations.
At the end of these hearings, the investigators had confirmations of suspicions of financial irregularities in his management of the municipality or in the context of public contracts, overcharging and payment of royalties for work not carried out under urban development contracts.
An investigation was opened against Mohamed Moubdii after the complaint filed against him by the Casablanca-Settat regional section of the Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Finances, which accuses him of embezzlement of public funds, illegal enrichment and violation of the law on public procurement.
The former municipal president will be informed of his fate in the coming days. After the conclusion of the investigation, it is now up to the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal to decide on the opening of his trial before the competent court or to deepen the investigation.
