Former Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere Files Criminal Complaint Amid Social Media Defamation Storm

Iris Mittenaere, Miss France 2016 and Miss Universe 2016, responds to accusations of cheating made by her ex-partner Diego El Glaoui and blogger Aquababe. She also announces that she has filed a criminal complaint with the Paris prosecutor for disclosure of private correspondence, public defamation, and incitement to cyberbullying.

"For several days, I have been the subject of a campaign of hate and defamation on social media. False statements, deliberately distorted or taken out of context, have been circulated to try to damage my image, my words, and my commitment," Iris Mittenaere fumes with anger in a post published Thursday on her Instagram account. She says she is not the only one in this situation. "Like too many other women, I see how slander, harassment, and manipulation have become tools of online pressure," adds the former beauty queen, stating that "it’s time for this to stop."

Miss France 2016 announced that she has filed a criminal complaint with the Paris prosecutor for "disclosure of private correspondence, public defamation, and incitement to cyberbullying." In parallel, she has also initiated "an urgent civil procedure for invasion of privacy." Miss 2016 says she remains deeply attached to her values: respect, truth, justice. "I am standing, surrounded, and fully engaged in my projects," she concludes.

This reaction follows accusations made against her by her ex-partner. "I discovered that I had been cheated on shortly after our engagement and for several months. And despite this, I chose to forgive, to fight for our promise of eternal commitment, to give our relationship another chance, and not to expose it," El Glaoui wrote in an Instagram story. These accusations follow threats from blogger Aqababe to make revelations about the former Miss France and "reveal her true face."
