Former Marrakech Mayor Omar Jazouli Dies from COVID-19 Complications

Omar Jazouli, former mayor of Marrakech and former deputy, died on Saturday, July 31 in a private clinic following complications caused by Covid-19.
According to his family, Omar Jazouli had been admitted to a private clinic in the ochre city due to complications caused by Covid-19, but he did not survive. He died in the night from Saturday to Sunday, August 1, 2021.
Omar Jazouli was a major local and national figure. He cut his teeth in politics within the National Democratic Party (PND). He was elected deputy in 1977. In 2003, he became mayor of Marrakech. A city he had led until his defeat in June 2009. In 2011, he was president of the Association of Local Elected Officials of the Constitutional Union (UC).
