Former Education Minister Vallaud-Belkacem Announces Run for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Presidency

The former Minister of Education, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem announced her candidacy for the presidency of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in the regional elections scheduled for June 13 and 20, 2021.
"Yes, I am a candidate as head of the list for the regional elections in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes," she said in an interview with the newspapers Le Dauphiné Libéré, Le Progrès and La Montagne. She is thus materializing the wish of the environmentalists. "I hope that Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, who would be a real asset for a joint campaign, will be the head of the list in the Lyon metropolis," had indicated the ecologist president of Lyon, Bruno Bernard.
The former Lyon elected official will present the "Alternative" list. This list will be composed of members of the PS, the Radical Party of the Left but also of Cap Ecologie, the Republican and Social Left and a large number of unaffiliated citizens, specifies Le Dauphiné Libéré.
Najat Vallaud-Belkacem says she wants to embody "an alternative" to the politics and governance of Laurent Wauquiez. She also calls for a rally "before the first round".
