Nazi and Islamophobic Graffiti Defaces Student Housing in Lyon Suburb

In Bron, the walls of a student residence were covered with Nazi and Islamophobic tags last Friday. A day earlier, xenophobic inscriptions had been found on the campaign posters of Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, a candidate (PS) in the regional elections in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
"Islam assassin" or "Muslims out". Insulting tags against Islam and Muslims were discovered last Friday on the walls of the Arcole student residence, in the city of Bron, at the heart of the Lyon metropolis (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), reports Le Progrès. These tags aroused indignation. The mayor of Bron Jérémie Bréaud denounced "an isolated act of individuals who have no place in the Republic". The elected officials of Bron, a group bringing together members of the environmentalist opposition, in a press release, denounced these "odious acts and this infamous ideology".
On Thursday, xenophobic inscriptions were spotted on the campaign posters of Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, a candidate (PS) in the regional elections in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in the Essarts district. On the billboard, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem’s face is crossed out in black letters: "Go back to Morocco", "She has corrupted the children", "She is harming Muslims", "New Satanist Pedophile World Order" or even "666", the number associated with the devil. In a press release, the local PS section indicated that a complaint would be filed.
