Forest Fire in Morocco Claims Lives of 3 Firefighters, Destroys 90 Hectares

The forest fires that occurred in the "Kodiat Tifour" forest, in the M’diq region, caused the death of three elements of the General Directorate of Civil Protection and seriously burned two others.
According to the local authorities, these deceased agents were part of the rescue team fighting the fire. Their vehicle fell into a ravine during the operations, they specified, adding that the injured were evacuated to a special care unit in Tangier to receive the necessary care.
In addition to the deaths, about 90 hectares of forest cover were lost, according to preliminary estimates. The officials also said that efforts are continuing to bring the flames under control to prevent their spread.
The fire has already required the intervention of all the competent authorities and services, which have mobilized all human resources and logistical means, including the use of specialized Canadair aircraft, it is pointed out.
