Forbes Ranks Top Moroccan Banks Among MENA Region’s Best

Three Moroccan banks are featured this year in the top 30 of the most important banks in the Mena region, published by Forbes magazine.
Attijariwafa bank, Banque Centrale Populaire and Bank of Africa have managed to stand out in a ranking dominated by the Gulf countries, recalls L’Économiste, noting that despite the many exogenous shocks, Moroccan banks have shown resilience.
According to Forbes, Attijariwafa bank (AWB) is in 14th place, while Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Bank of Africa (BoA) are ranked 21st and 27th respectively.
This year, the magazine ranked Saudi Arabia first with 10 banks, followed by the United Arab Emirates (7), Qatar (4), Morocco (3) and Kuwait (2). Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan and Oman each have one bank.
In total, the top 30 banks in the Middle East have a market value of $586.6 billion as of June 28, the same source points out.
