Forbes Ranks 5 Moroccan Firms Among Top 100 Arab Companies in 2022

Five Moroccan companies are in the top 100 most competitive companies in the Arab world in 2022, published by Forbes magazine.
These are Attijariwafa Bank, Maroc Telecom, Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP), Bank of Africa and LafargeHolcim, who have managed to stand out in a ranking dominated by the Gulf countries.
To establish this ranking, the magazine lists the largest companies in the region, in terms of sales, profits, assets and market value. This year, the list welcomed 24 new entrants, including Bank of Africa and Maroc Telecom.
According to Forbes, Attijariwafa Bank is the largest bank in Morocco. It is ranked 23rd on the list, followed by Maroc Telecom, the market leader in telecommunications. The provider is ranked 40th on the list. In addition to Morocco, the company operates in 11 African countries, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Côte d’Ivoire and Togo.
The magazine placed Banque Centrale Populaire in 46th position. Present in 24 countries, the company has a market value of $5.5 billion and a turnover of $2.7 billion with a profit margin of $279 million in 2022.
The fourth Moroccan company on the list is Bank of Africa. Led by Othman Benjelloun, the banking group is in 55th place with a market value of $4.2 billion in 2022. The group achieved a turnover of $291 million and currently holds $35.3 billion in assets in more than 20 African countries.
Ranked 99th, LafargeHolcim Maroc has a current market value of $4.7 billion and assets valued at $2.1 billion. The company was created in 2016 after the merger of Lafarge Ciments and Holcim Maroc, valued at $1 billion.
