Football Legends and Celebrities Face Off in Moroccan Desert Charity Match

Many football stars were in Morocco on Tuesday where they played a friendly charity match as part of the Agafay football 2024 event, an initiative of Belgian-Moroccan businessman and player agent Fouad Ben Kouider.
The match took place in the Agafay desert in Morocco and pitted two atypical teams: on one side, former football greats like Robert Pires, El Hadji Diouf, Emmanuel Adebayor, Christian Karembeu, and personalities like Cyril Gane (MMA fighter), Just Riadh (content creator) or Redouane Bougheraba (comedian), and on the other, local players and Moroccan personalities.
Daniel Van Buyten, the former central defender of the Red Devils and Bayern Munich, was also expected to be there, but he had a last-minute impediment, reports La Libre. There was neither winner nor loser in this friendly charity match. It was "a friendly match in its purest version," said Fouad Ben Kouider, the organizer of the event.
The Agafay football 2024 is also a gala dinner and a session of exchanges with young people, the objective being to raise awareness about a rational use of water and to raise funds for the Zakoura Foundation, dedicated to education and human development in Morocco. The initiator said he was satisfied with the success of the event. "It was a first edition in Morocco. The success was there. And why not in Belgium."
