Food Poisoning Outbreak in Dakhla, Morocco Hospitalizes 24 After Consuming Camel Meat

More than twenty residents of Dakhla were admitted on Friday to the emergency room of the Regional Health Delegation Center in Oued Eddahab, after a food poisoning.
Of the 24 people, fifteen were kept under close medical supervision. The nine others are in stable and "non-worrying" condition, the same statement said.
The investigation carried out by the Epidemiological Surveillance and Environmental Health Unit of the Regional Health Delegation of Oued Eddaha revealed that the source of the poisoning was the consumption of liver and camel meat purchased from one of the butcher shops in the city center.
As a result, the local authorities, in consultation with the competent authorities, decided to close the butcher shop in question. As a precautionary measure, they also proceeded to seize the products intended for sale in the said butcher’s shop, pending the results of the epidemiological investigation and laboratory analysis.
