Fluidra Starts Production at Tangier Plant as It Plans China Factory Closure

“Our new Tangier facility began production in the third quarter.” Fluidra CEO Jaime Ramírez announced this to financial analysts on October 29, during the presentation of the group’s results. The Moroccan plant, whose opening was still being prepared in the spring, therefore became operational between July and September.

The Tangier site plays an important role in the Spanish manufacturer’s plans. On May 6, its chief executive described it as a future highly competitive production center, intended to supply international markets. Fluidra thus plans to manufacture in Morocco equipment sold well beyond the Kingdom’s borders.

The investment is part of an already significant Spanish industrial presence in Morocco, where more than 350 companies from Spain have operations. For Fluidra, the goal is to reduce manufacturing costs and build a more efficient network of factories, better able to meet the needs of its different markets.

During the May 6 financial presentation, Jaime Ramírez outlined the three main elements of this restructuring: consolidating manufacturing activities in North America, opening the Tangier facility and closing one of the group’s production sites in China.

Nearly six months later, the timetable for Morocco is on track. The new factory is already producing, as confirmed by the transcript of the October 29 financial conference. The industrial network reorganization is continuing, with no new announcement on the completion of the closure in China.

This transformation is part of a broader cost-saving program. In the first nine months of 2026, Fluidra generated 1.78 billion euros in revenue, up 4% at constant exchange rates. Its efficiency plan has saved the company 23 million euros since January.

The Tangier plant is also reflected in the group’s accounts. Fluidra formalized the lease for its Moroccan facility, a transaction taken into account, among other factors, in the change in its net debt, which stood at 1.145 billion euros at the end of September.

The restructuring nevertheless has a particular feature in China. While Fluidra plans to close a factory there, the group has also opened a new global research and development center in the country, announced during its May financial presentation.
