Flemish Virologist Sparks Outrage After Dancing at Indoor Event Despite COVID Warnings
The Flemish virologist, Marc Van Ranst, was seen in a video dancing with a woman on the occasion of the celebration of the Green March, while he had recently called to avoid contacts as much as possible. The images sparked a wave of reactions on social media.
The video showing Marc Van Ranst sketching dance steps on the occasion of the Green March was criticized by members of the Flemish nationalist party, reports 7sur 7. "When I had a barbecue outdoors with friends, it was talked about in the media for days. No hypocrisy however, because I was myself against this stupid rule. But now that Marc Van Ranst is organizing an indoor event while he himself calls to limit contacts, the media are silent," tweeted Dries Van Langenhove.
"The difference is that I’m just following the rules in force for everyone, that is to say the Covid Safe Ticket, the ventilation and the measurement of CO₂. And then we dance," Van Ranst reacted.
