FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour to Visit Morocco in March Ahead of Tournament

The Women’s World Cup trophy will stop in Morocco on March 20. As a participating country, Morocco is one of the 32 stops on the tour, according to statements made on Thursday by FIFA.
According to the international football body, the trophy tour aims to generate enthusiasm among supporters of the different countries qualified for the Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20. "This first 32-stop tour, as many as the number of participating teams in the new format, also aims to inspire populations of all ages by pushing the limits and building on the growing popularity of women’s football," FIFA wrote on its website.
For the first time, the trophy will stop in countries such as Morocco, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, the Philippines, the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, Vietnam and Zambia. According to FIFA, the trophy will travel to all continents, before focusing in the last few weeks on the nine cities hosting the competition.
Morocco is making its first appearance in the Women’s World Cup and is placed in Group H following the draw held in Auckland (New Zealand). The Lionesses of the Atlas will face Germany (world champions in 2003 and 2007), Colombia and South Korea.
