FIFA to Test Public VAR Explanations at Club World Cup and Women’s World Cup

The referee will be allowed to explain to the public the VAR decisions during the FIFA Club World Cup taking place from February 1 to 11 in Morocco and on the occasion of the Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, from July 20 to August 20.
The International Board (IFAB) made this decision regarding VAR on Wednesday during a meeting at Wembley. "We believe this is important in terms of transparency, especially for the supporters in the stadium who currently do not receive enough information about these decisions," explained Mark Bullingham, the executive director of the English Football Association (FA).
Thus, the central referee will be able to communicate to the public the conclusion of his exchanges with his colleagues in charge of video assistance (VAR), which exchanges will remain confidential.
On the other hand, temporary substitutions in case of injury, on a trial basis, have still not been authorized. Requested by the global players’ union FIFPro and the World Leagues Forum, this measure should be tested next season in the English Premier League, the French Ligue 1 and the American MLS. Permanent substitutions, in progress, therefore continue.
"There are different points of view. I’m probably not the best person to give you the arguments on both sides, but the IFAB won’t support this trial for now," Bullingham said.
