FIFA Report Boosts Morocco's 2030 World Cup Bid with Stadium Approvals

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has published the evaluation report of the applications of the federations bidding to host the 2030 World Cup. And it’s good news for Morocco.

This report confirms that the stadiums in Rabat and Tangier, currently undergoing renovation, will be ready to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, before potentially hosting matches of the 2030 World Cup.

The Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, built in 1983 for the Mediterranean Games, is undergoing a complete transformation. Once the work is completed, it will be able to accommodate up to 68,700 spectators, thus exceeding the minimum required for a World Cup semi-final. FIFA points out that this stadium is a serious candidate to host such a match in 2030.

In Tangier, the stadium inaugurated in 2011 is also undergoing a major renovation. Its capacity will be increased to 75,600 seats, again beyond FIFA’s requirements for semi-finals. Tangier is therefore positioning itself as another potential site to host a World Cup semi-final.

And of course, the new Hassan II Stadium in Mohammedia overshadows the stadiums in Madrid and Barcelona and could dethrone them to host the 2030 World Cup final.

This information contradicts the rumors recently circulated, suggesting that Morocco would not be able to host the 2025 CAN due to delays in the construction of certain Moroccan stadiums.
