FIFA President Remains Neutral on Morocco’s Potential 2030 World Cup Bid

Present in Marrakech as part of his congress, FIFA President Gianni Infantino was questioned about the likely candidacy of Morocco, Portugal and Spain for the 2030 World Cup.
For Gianni, it is "very early" to talk about the triple candidacy, stating that the verdict will be rendered in four years. Acknowledging the difficulties for all countries to host a World Cup, especially with 48 teams, the strong man of FIFA denied being aware of an official candidacy from the three countries.
As for the holding of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, he supported that it would take place on the scheduled date, adding that the increase in the number of participants in this competition is still under discussion within FIFA, preferring to wait until 2026 to put the question on the table. However, if FIFA finds an agreement before 2022, it could consider organizing certain matches in countries "geographically close to Qatar".
During the press conference, Infantino congratulated himself on the "great success" of VAR, considering that it was decisive in helping referees to decide in several matches, while admitting that it was sometimes insufficient.
