FIFA Orders Zamalek to Pay $2.5 Million to Former Striker Khalid Boutaib

The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber has imposed a new sanction on the Egyptian Premier League club, Zamalek, for non-payment of outstanding salaries owed to its former striker, Moroccan international, Khalid Boutaib.
Khalid Boutaib had joined Zamalek from the Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor in January 2019. He had scored five goals in 24 matches, won the Egyptian Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup in his first season. The second season did not go well for him. Injured, he missed several matches and was no longer regularly fielded for technical reasons.
Unexpectedly, Zamalek terminated the Moroccan international’s contract in February 2020, and subsequently paid him 180,000 €. Dissatisfied, Khalid Boutaib had brought the case before FIFA. The latter has made its decision. It recognizes the Egyptian club guilty of having terminated the Moroccan’s contract for invalid reasons and has ordered it to pay the amount owed to him if he had remained with the club until the end of his contract, i.e. 2.5 M€, reports KINGFUT.
The White Knights should appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
