FIFA Chief to Visit Morocco, Backing Joint 2030 World Cup Bid with Spain and Portugal

FIFA President Gianni Infantino will travel to Marrakech on Tuesday to learn more about the bid for the 2030 World Cup that Morocco plans to submit with Spain and Portugal.
Gianni is willing to support this bid, which is not at all to the liking of UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, who said he was opposed to the idea of a bid from different confederations, in this case the European one with Spain and Portugal and the African one with Morocco.
Ceferin had also been annoyed that the project of a three-country bid had been developed by politicians and not by the football federation of the country in question. This proposal had been made by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to King Mohammed VI and Prime Minister Saad-Eddine El Othmani.
According to the Spanish sports newspaper AS, the meeting in Marrakech will also address a new Club World Cup that FIFA wants to organize in place of the Confederations Cup. This "Super World Cup" could take place every 4 years with 24 teams, including the winners of the Champions League, the runners-up, and the winners of the Europa League over the last four years.
