FIFA Chief’s Morocco Visit Sparks World Cup 2030 Final Venue Debate

The recent visit to Morocco of FIFA President Gianni Infantino to attend the final of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, won for the third consecutive time by the Atlas Lions, has raised concerns in Spain. The two co-hosts of the 2030 World Cup with Portugal have expressed their desire to host the final of the competition.
"I feel at home in a country that lives by and for football. This football-loving country is an incredible host of various tournaments, including this one, and I’m already very excited about what 2030 will bring us," Infantino said from Rabat, where he attended the final of the Futsal CAN this weekend, wearing a Moroccan jersey on the occasion. These remarks and gestures have raised major concerns in Spain, which wants to see the 2030 World Cup final played at the Bernabéu.
According to El Debate, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation would try to take advantage of the crisis shaking the Spanish Federation, whose interim president, Pedro Rocha, has been indicted in a corruption case, to convince FIFA to play the 2030 World Cup final at the grand stadium in Casablanca, which should have 115,000 seats. The work on this jewel should start in 2025 and be completed in 2028, the Spanish media specifies.
The situation at the RFEF is likely to jeopardize the candidacy of Morocco, Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup. The final word goes to FIFA.
