Fez Taxi Fares Increase: Short Trips Now Cost 6 Dirhams

In Fez, the fare for short trips in small taxis is on the rise. It now costs 6 dirhams instead of 4 dirhams previously.
This change in fare came following the meeting of the regional advisory committee responsible for setting the prices of local products and services, held on June 28, 2021, said Saïd Zniber, governor of the prefecture of Fez, specifying that this decision repeals the previous pricing that dated from February 1, 1992.
This decision has been in effect since October 15, the date of signature in accordance with Article 2 of the governor’s decision, the document states.

For the record, industry professionals had been demanding this fare increase since February, in order to cope, they say, with the rise in the price of diesel.
Failing to reach an agreement with the local authorities, they had imposed their price by increasing the minimum fare from 4 dirhams to 7 dirhams during the day, and from 6 to 10.5 dirhams at night. Most drivers believe that earnings are shared unfairly between the permit holder, the car owner and the driver.
