Ferry Service Resumes: First Car Passengers Arrive in Morocco from Spain

The first car passengers from Barcelona arrived on Friday, April 15 at the port of Nador, thus marking the effective resumption of maritime passenger traffic with vehicles between Morocco and Spain.
The first crossing authorized to transport passengers accompanied by a motor vehicle was effective last Friday. The Sète-Nador maritime link was no longer operated by the ship of the Italian company Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV). It was rather the Barcelona-Nador link that was operated.
"All the players in the port (police, customs, Ministry of Health, Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, Merchant Navy) mobilized to make this operation a success and welcome passengers under good conditions," said Mostapha Benali, Regional Director Mediterranean at the National Ports Agency (ANP), to Le360.
Other crossings are planned from this Monday, April 18. The first arrivals of passengers with vehicles from the port of Almeria (one crossing per day) and that of Sète (France) will be welcomed at the port of Nador. The latter has also well prepared the resumption of maritime passenger transport. The ANP has finalized the extension work on the quays of the port of Nador and this port is now authorized to receive ships measuring up to 250 meters, with a capacity of 1,000 vehicles, said the representative of the Agency.
