Fenerbahçe’s Moroccan Star En-Nesyri Eyes Exit Amid Goal Drought and Fan Backlash
Less in form, the Moroccan striker of Fenerbahçe Youssef En-Nesyri is under fire and is preparing to leave the Turkish club this winter.
Does Youssef En-Nesyri regret staying at Fenerbahçe? The Moroccan striker has deleted all posts related to the club from his Instagram account before putting them back, following criticism of his recent form. He had started the season well, scoring five goals and providing one assist in his first nine games. But the striker has not found the net for five games, his last goal being scored against Alanyaspor on September 17. He has missed opportunities, prompting criticism from supporters.
Former Beşiktaş midfielder Sinan Engin has been very critical of the Moroccan international. He went so far as to compare him to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who has impressed since his transfer this summer, and questioned the Atlas Lion’s ability to lead Fenerbahçe to the Süper Lig title. "Fenerbahçe cannot win the championship with En-Nesyri. This man is not even up to the level of Icardi and Osimhen," Engin said on Beyaz TV. Faced with the criticism, he decided to no longer share content about Fenerbahçe.
En-Nesyri now regrets staying at the club despite offers of 30 million euros last season and 40 million euros this year, according to Türkiye Gazetesi. While Mourinho did everything to keep him, the Atlas Lion now seems on the verge of leaving after the poor performances against Nice and Samsunspor. And En-Nesyri is already thinking about his next transfer.
