Father Arrested in Spain for Attempted Child Abduction to Morocco

A man of Moroccan origin was arrested on Tuesday, December 5, as he was planning to go to Morocco with his child. The child had been taken from the mother by the father.
The case began with a complaint filed by the man’s ex-partner in Algeciras, alerting the authorities to the disappearance of her son. Investigators quickly set out to track down the father and the child.
Their first lead took them to a restaurant where the suspect worked. Although the restaurant was closed during their visit, they learned that the man had asked the manager for money for a planned trip to Morocco.
The agents then located the father and his son at their family home. It appeared that the man had planned everything to leave the country that same day, according to the police statement.
The arrest was carried out and the Moroccan is now accused of mistreatment of his family. The little boy was immediately returned to his mother, who, with her three minor children, is now under the protection of the authorities.
