Fatal Food Poisoning at Moroccan Beach Linked to Street Vendor Pastries

A food poisoning incident due to the consumption of briouates has caused the death of a woman and digestive problems in 13 other people in Salé. An investigation has been opened.
All the victims would have consumed briouates on the beach in Salé, according to the conclusions of the investigation conducted by the judicial police services of Salé. These are pastries, sold for 1 dirham, which are served by itinerant merchants who often ignore the most basic food hygiene measures, reports Assabah.
The investigations are continuing and the police elements intend to interview the itinerant merchants, sellers of these "deadly briouates". This hearing should also take into account members of the deceased’s family. The objective is to establish a report of their statements in order to determine the nature of the meals consumed before the appearance of the symptoms observed upon their return from the beach where they would have consumed these pastries.
The same sources specify that the victims were suddenly seized with fever, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pains. As for the victims of this tragedy, they were evacuated to the provincial hospital of Salé, while the woman, who died after being transferred in critical condition to the emergency room of the Ibn Sina hospital in Rabat.
