UK Farmers Eye Morocco for Winter Crop Production Amid Energy Crisis

Faced with soaring energy prices, British farmers are considering relocating their production to warmer countries like Morocco this winter. This will allow them to ensure food security.
"We will increasingly relocate (European fruit and vegetable) production to the South, through Spain, Morocco and parts of Africa," Jack Ward, chief executive of the British Growers Association, told Reuters. According to his explanations, the continued rise in energy prices has prompted farmers in northern and western Europe to stop or reduce their activities.
According to him, the rise in production costs should impact the growth of crops such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers that require heated greenhouses during the winter. In France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, farmers are among the professionals most affected by the rise in energy and raw material costs such as fertilizers.
