Far-Right Vox Party Proposes Bill to Restrict Spanish Citizenship for Moroccans

The Vox party plans to introduce a bill in Congress to tighten the conditions for obtaining Spanish nationality for Moroccan nationals.
The far-right party wants to initiate this bill aimed at amending the Civil Code to limit "the massive granting of nationality to foreigners", particularly Moroccans, arguing that "nationality must attest to a bond of loyalty and historical commitment to the nation, to its past, its present and its future".
The Vox party also wants to propose in this project that the public prosecutor’s office proceed to verify the renunciation of Moroccan nationality by persons who have acquired Spanish citizenship. "Otherwise, we would be talking about fraud to the law and electoral fraud as well," said Jorge Buxadé, the spokesman for Vox.

"The Green March is an opportunity to highlight the sincere patriotism, deep loyalty and strong attachment of the Moroccan community established in Spain to the sacred values of the nation and the defense of the homeland," the Moroccan embassy in Madrid said in a tweet on the occasion of the celebration of this festival last weekend.
In reaction to this message, the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, declared that "the threats from Morocco are more explicit than ever, and always as unpunished. It’s logical, because the Spanish government is beholden to the enemies of Spain. And it is extremely serious, because the most terrible attack in history was committed by Moroccans living in Spain".
