Far-Right Candidate Hosts Eric Zemmour at Perpignan Campaign Event

The polemicist Eric Zemmour will be holding a meeting this Monday alongside Louis Aliot, the far-right candidate in the municipal elections in Perpignan, according to a statement from the elected official’s entourage.
Initially scheduled for July, the presentation of Eric Zemmour’s book is expected on September 25. This presence of Eric Zemmour is far from an official support, a gesture of friendship, confirmed the elected official from the Pyrénées-Orientales to AFP.
For AFP, Louis Aliot will introduce the essayist who has just been definitively sentenced to 3,000 euros in fines for incitement to religious hatred after anti-Muslim remarks made in 2016, and will pass on the audience’s questions.
Zemmour, for his part, recalled that "no candidate would benefit from his support for the municipal elections" while specifying that he was "simply honoring a promise" made to Louis Aliot "to go present (his) book +The French Destiny+’ in Perpignan.
The deputy claims to share with Zemmour his "Gaullist idea of France, grandeur, independence, identity, French sovereignty". The essayist, a supporter of a "union of the rights" (right of LR and far right), will also speak at the "convention of the right" at the end of September organized by the entourage of the former RN deputy Marion Maréchal.
