Family of Belgian Teen Killed in Police Chase Seeks Further Investigation

There are new developments in the case of the death of Adil, a 19-year-old, who died in a police chase in Anderlecht. His family wants to request additional investigative duties after the dismissal handed down on November 26 by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office for lack of sufficient charges "against the protagonists of the case and in particular the driver of the police vehicle".
In a correspondence, Adil’s family members state that they have had access to the file again and, above all, have been able to view the video images. "This has shown us that many questions remain and that important elements seem not to have been taken into account by the public prosecutor when drafting his dismissal order. We will therefore request additional investigative duties [...], they announced.
Adil’s family members say they have so many persistent questions that remain unanswered. "The trial we are demanding will be the only way to shed light on the circumstances of his death and to clearly establish the responsibilities of the police," they added.
Adil died during a chase on April 10. His scooter had collided with a police car or had been hit by a police car. This accident occurred with a Virtus koban patrol in charge of enforcing the lockdown measures.
