Fake Gendarmes Arrested in Mohammedia for Extorting Street Vendors

A patrol of the Royal Gendarmerie of Chelalat, in the suburbs of Mohammedia, managed to arrest two fake gendarmes who were active in the region. They were prosecuted for fraud, blackmail and impersonation.
At the time of their arrest, the individuals, who were in a vehicle with Royal Gendarmerie uniforms, were blackmailing street vendors in the Chelalat region. Seeing a patrol approaching, the fake gendarmes tried to flee.
In their thirties, the two suspects, from Casablanca, were arrested and transferred to the Judicial Brigade of the Royal Gendarmerie, reports the daily Assabah.
During the interrogation, they admitted to having extorted money from their victims, particularly unmarried couples or young people in possession of alcohol who were on the beaches.
As for the origin of the uniforms and handcuffs, the two defendants said they had received them from an agent assigned to the Bournazel auxiliary forces garrison in Casablanca.
