UK Eyes Moroccan Wheat Market Amid Global Supply Concerns

In its policy of diversifying wheat supply sources, due to the war in Ukraine, Morocco could turn to the United Kingdom. The country is positioning itself as one of the alternative suppliers.
In this sense, British producers are increasingly interested in the Moroccan market. It is a team from the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board that visited Morocco, indicates a press release, adding that the objective is to prospect the Moroccan market, which can become one of the destinations for British cereal products.
Well informed of Morocco’s need for cereals, these producers recalled that due to the severe drought, the harvest would not exceed three million tons. A figure largely lower than that recorded in 2021, when Morocco was able to reach a record level (10.3 million tons).
In addition, the tensions in Ukraine have strongly affected Morocco, notes the same source. The country provided 35% of its cereal needs. Hence the need to diversify supply sources, such as France. In addition to French wheat, the United Kingdom could also be added to the list of suppliers, as British producers are already willing to meet the Kingdom’s needs.
