Explosions Near Saharan City of Smara Raise Security Concerns

New explosions near Smara. The city was hit on Saturday afternoon by three explosions. Most of them occurred in desert areas dozens of kilometers from the city, which is located about 200 km east of Laâyoune. No casualties or material damage were reported.
Informed, the local authorities, the police, the civil defense and security elements arrived at the sites of the explosions to investigate and take the necessary measures. On social media, some accounts described as "hostile" suspect the Polisario of being behind this new attack, while Moroccan pages call for waiting for clarification from the competent authorities.
