A European woman distributing "Christian" brochures in Marrakech, she is arrested
A Spanish tourist was apprehended by police officers on Jemaa el-Fna square in Marrakech, for acts related to the distribution of religious documents. The incident led to her arrest before she was released pending further proceedings.
According to sources cited by Rue20, the Spanish national was caught in the act of distributing brochures related to Christianity. These documents encouraged abandoning Islam to adopt the Catholic religion. The agents first arrested her before taking her to the police station.
After her hearing and the establishment of a report, the Spanish national was released.
In Morocco, Article 220 of the Penal Code in its paragraph 2 punishes with a prison sentence of six months to three years, accompanied by a fine "anyone who uses means of seduction to shake the faith of a Muslim or convert him to another religion, by exploiting his weakness or need for help..."
