European Consulates Hold Hundreds of Moroccan Passports Amid Visa Delays

Faced with the health crisis related to the coronavirus, several European countries have proceeded to suspend their visa services without any communication on the dates of issuance or the follow-up of applications. As a result, hundreds of passports are being held by European consulates.
Three months after the closure of the external borders of the European Union (EU) due to covid-19, Moroccans who have applied for a visa have still not received a response, reports Al Massae.
Even after the announcement of the lifting of the travel restrictions imposed within the Schengen area and the reopening of European borders, at the beginning of July, for non-European travelers, the status quo remains. The passports of Moroccans are thus being held by European embassies and consulates.
Faced with the situation, the affected depositors are calling for the immediate implementation of procedures for the issuance of temporary visas.
