Euro 2025: Sakina Karchaoui Emerges as Social Media Star, Outshining Champions in Women's Football

Franco-Moroccan Sakina Karchaoui, left-back of the French national team, is one of the most popular female footballers of Euro 2025 on social media.

With nearly 1 million Instagram followers, Sakina Karchaoui ranks 7th in the ranking of the eight most popular female footballers of Euro 2025 on social media, revealed by TDG. The Franco-Moroccan beats the defender of the England and Chelsea team, Lucy Bronze, winner of the Euro in 2022. The left-back of the French national team was trained in the "street football" school. Over time, she managed to climb the ranks up to the professional level. To her credit, several titles: she won a Champions League with Lyon in 2020 and two French Cups with PSG, where she has played since 2021. The player also heads an association whose mission is to encourage girls to play football.

Swiss Juventus Turin striker Alisha Lehmann (Switzerland) tops the ranking with more than 16 million Instagram followers, a record for a European female footballer. She is followed by the Spaniard Alexia Putellas, double Ballon d’Or (3 million subscribers). Her compatriot Aitana Bonmatí, midfielder of FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, ranks third. Then come the Germans Giulia Gwinn (more than 600,000 Instagram subscribers) and Jule Brand (more than 400,000 followers on Instagram). Alessia Russo (England) takes sixth place.

The 2025 European Women’s Football Championship will be held from July 2 to 27 in Switzerland. In total, 16 teams will compete for the trophy.
