Escaped Murderer Faces 25-Year Sentence for Second Killing in Spain

The 45-year-old Moroccan Adil Lazizi, arrested on May 30 as the alleged perpetrator of the murder of his neighbor in the San José district of Zaragoza, faces a 25-year prison sentence. The prosecution has just requested an additional ten-month prison sentence against him for violation of sentence, since he committed the murder after escaping from prison.
The accused escaped from the Zuera prison where he was serving a 21-year sentence for the murder of a 24-year-old woman, which occurred in 2001 in Madrid. He killed the victim on the day of their first meeting because she would have refused to have a relationship with him, the prosecution recalls in the indictment. He obtained permission to leave the prison on December 31, 2019 and was supposed to return there on January 6, 2020. Which he never did.
Missing for more than two years, and actively sought by the Spanish authorities who have issued an arrest warrant against him, he was finally arrested on May 30 last by the national police after committing a new murder. He would have assaulted and killed his neighbor, according to the police. The Moroccan, whose defense is ensured by lawyer Carmen Sánchez, faces a 25-year sentence for this murder and an additional ten-month sentence for violation of sentence due to his escape.
