Emirates Airlines Considers Job Cuts Amid COVID-19 Crisis, Moroccan Staff at Risk

Moroccans working at Emirates could lose their jobs. The reason is that the airline wants to cut jobs due to the health crisis related to covid-19.
"We have examined all possible scenarios in order to maintain our business operations, but we have unfortunately concluded that we must say goodbye to some of the wonderful people who have worked for us," the airline said in a statement on Sunday. In total, Emirates has a workforce of 100,000 people, including Moroccans.
In March, the company had announced a temporary 25 to 50% reduction in the basic salaries of most of its employees. Its planes were already grounded. As the health crisis persists, Emirates’ economic situation has deteriorated.
"The current pandemic has impacted many industries around the world," the same source said. "[...] We are constantly re-evaluating the situation and we will have to adapt to this transition period," the company added.
The company had suspended its flights on March 22. Two weeks later, the carrier resumed some services. For now, Emirates is providing regular but partial services to a number of airports.
