US Embassy Grants $163,000 to Boost Entrepreneurship in Tangier, Morocco

Young entrepreneurs in Tangier are in the spotlight. The U.S. Embassy in Morocco has just granted a $163,000 grant to the Center for Entrepreneurship and Executive Development (CEED Morocco), through the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
Thanks to this project, 30 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tangier, both new and existing, will have the opportunity for training, mentoring and networking over 21 months. "Through this program implemented through MEPI, we aim to encourage and promote entrepreneurship in Tangier, by providing a grant of $163,000 to invest in the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem," said David Greene, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Morocco, in a statement to the press, following a meeting with the beneficiaries of this program.
Supporting young Moroccan entrepreneurs
The objective of this program is to support economic development in Morocco, mainly in Tangier. Greene said he is firmly committed to supporting young Moroccan entrepreneurs for the success of their projects, thus creating jobs in the Kingdom. Pleased with a friendship of over two centuries between the two countries, he recalled that this year marks the 200th commemoration of the American Legation in Tangier.
The Middle East Partnership Initiative, active in Morocco for more than 10 years, through its programs, is more interested in the capacities of individuals and organizations in improving the partnership with the government, for the benefit of participatory governance and economic and educational development. The initiative works in agreement with civil society, the private sector and the governments of several countries in the Middle East.
