Eid Al-Adha 2026 Date Morocco Moon Sighting Sunday
Moroccan religious authorities are mobilized. The observation of the lunar crescent, a crucial step in determining the exact date of Eid Al-Adha, is scheduled for this Sunday evening.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has officially instructed magistrates and regional delegates throughout the Kingdom. Their mission is to observe the appearance of the new moon of the month of Dhu al-Hijja this Sunday, May 17, 2026, corresponding to the 29th of Dhu al-Qi’da 1447 of the Hijra. To quickly centralize the data, local observers are required to report any confirmation or lack of visibility by contacting specific telephone lines (0537-76-11-45, 0537-76-09-32, 0537-76-05-49) or by fax (0537-76-17-21).

Morocco is not alone. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Turkey have also announced the observation of this same crescent for Sunday evening. The conclusions drawn will allow each country to officially decree the first day of Dhu al-Hijja and finalize the calendar for the Festival of Sacrifice.
