Egyptian Officials Accused of Targeting Moroccan Football Leadership in CAF Power Struggle

A campaign against Morocco is being led within the governing bodies of CAF by several Egyptian officials. It is particularly targeting the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
This campaign targets Moroccan officials who hold various positions of responsibility within the bodies of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), reports Assabah. It emerged in the wake of the statements of the President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), regarding the corruption prevailing in CAF.
According to the same daily, these attacks are unfounded and have no connection with the fight against corruption led by Gianni Infantino. These officials, who are now at war against the Moroccans, are the same ones who, in the time of Issa Hayatou, were calling the shots and squandering the money of African football.
Underlying this, it is the president of the FRMF who is in the sights of the Egyptians. Fouzi Lekjaâ, elected second vice-president of CAF, fortunately has not been cited in the embezzlement cases recently revealed by the New York Times.
