Egyptian Journalists Apologize for Colleague's Offensive Remarks About Moroccans

Egyptian journalists have apologized to the Moroccan people after the controversy sparked by the remarks of their compatriot and colleague Hala Sarhan.

The Egyptian journalist Hala Sarhan, who was defending her compatriot, Tamer Hosny, following the speech of Bassma Boussil, his ex-wife, in the media to discuss the toxic relationship and psychological pressures she experienced during her marriage to the Egyptian singer, shared a tweet on her official X account, criticizing the Moroccan singer and offending the Moroccan people. This caused an uproar in Morocco. Subsequently, her compatriots and colleagues presented apologies to the Moroccan people.

"I assure you that your place with us is always preserved, that your women and daughters are under our benevolent gaze, and that we hold you in great love and respect. You remain a people of generosity and authenticity, and I hope you will accept the apologies for what was said hastily and with passion, words that have offended you. I love you very much," declared the Egyptian journalist Basma Wahba in a video shared on her official platforms.

For her part, the journalist Passant Shams Ell Dea expressed her love for Moroccans and defended Moroccan women. According to her, Moroccan women are among the women most in harmony with themselves and with other women of all nationalities. She claims that she always welcomes them with kindness and generosity. The "charm" that surrounds Moroccan women is in reality "the charm of beauty, refinement, intelligence, culture, femininity, education, and many other qualities that make them women worth a hundred men," added the one who previously resided in Morocco and continues to visit it regularly. Finally, she called for an end to fueling tensions between peoples and trying to surf on current trends.
