New Economic Zone Opens in Fnideq, Morocco to Combat Smuggling

The economic activity zone of Fnideq welcomed its first merchants on Saturday, February 12, during a visit chaired by the Wali of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, Mohamed Mhidia.
This visit to the new Fnideq Economic Activity Zone (ZAEF) was marked by the welcome of 53 merchants, recipients of the warehouses, who were selected following the call for expressions of interest launched last June, reports the MAP. An investment of more than 200 million DH has been released for this area dedicated to the fight against smuggling. It is part of the economic and social development program of the province of Tétouan and the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq.
The result of the partnership signed in February 2020 between several ministries, the ZAEF "plans to create more than 1,000 stable and direct jobs and about 2,000 indirect jobs, which will have a positive impact on the merchants of the region," said Jaafar Mrhardy, general manager of the CRI.
