EasyJet Soars into Africa: Marrakech Base and New Routes Reshape Morocco’s Skies
The British airline EasyJet is strengthening its offer to Morocco. It is preparing to open its first African base in Marrakech in the spring of 2026 and new routes between the kingdom and France.
EasyJet will officially open its first base in Africa, located in Marrakech, in the spring of 2026. The company plans to allocate three Airbus A320 aircraft to this airport as early as the summer of 2026. This is the result of a multi-year partnership with the ONMT, which aims to enhance the attractiveness of Morocco on the European market while consolidating EasyJet’s position as the second airline in Marrakech and the third in Morocco. Four new routes will be launched as part of this project.
Two new routes will be opened between Morocco and France starting May 3, 2026. These are the Lille - Marrakech and Strasbourg - Marrakech routes. Two flights will be operated per week. The Hamburg - Marrakech route will be launched from May 1, with weekly frequencies. The fourth route, Geneva - Tangier, will open on March 30 (2 flights per week). With these new developments, the total number of EasyJet routes to Morocco now stands at 46. The company now connects five Moroccan airports (Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira and Tangier) to nearly 25 European cities. It also plans to increase the frequency of several existing routes and offer around 4 million seats on Moroccan routes in 2026.
"This historic partnership confirms the importance of Morocco in our strategy. The country is now a key market for easyJet, both for leisure and business travelers," said Kenton Jarvis, CEO of EasyJet. In Morocco, this partnership will generate around a hundred direct jobs and several thousand indirect jobs in the aeronautics, tourism and services sectors. EasyJet has been present in the kingdom for 20 years.
