Earthquake in Morocco: the government refuses foreign aid

Several countries and humanitarian associations have spontaneously offered their assistance to Morocco, which was hit by a violent earthquake in the night from Friday to Saturday. But the authorities of the kingdom do not seem willing to accept their help.
Since the announcement of this tragedy, countries like France, Spain or the United Kingdom have offered their assistance to Morocco. Similarly, humanitarian associations such as the Red Cross or the Fondation de France are ready to go to the kingdom to provide relief and assistance to the victims. But the Moroccan authorities have not given their green light, reports L’Union.
According to Arnaud Fraisse, the founder of the association "Secouriste sans frontières" who has offered to go to Morocco to help the victims and search for survivors, "the Moroccan government is blocking all rescue teams except that of Qatar, which is authorized to land with them. They are arriving with 96 people and five search dogs. We don’t understand this blocking situation."
"If we don’t have the green light tomorrow morning, we won’t leave," warns Fraisse, whose association has been carrying out this type of operation for 45 years and was in Turkey in February, a country that had also been hit by an earthquake. For the moment, the Moroccan authorities have not provided any explanation on this subject. More than 100 rescue teams would have already informed the UN and Morocco of their availability to intervene on site.
