Powerful 7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Morocco, Felt Across North Africa and Southern Europe

A seismic shock of magnitude 7 on the Richter scale was felt in various regions of Morocco on Friday evening.
According to an alert from the national seismic and geophysical monitoring network, the epicenter was located in the commune of Ighil in the province of Al Haouz. The shock would also have been felt in Gibraltar, Mauritania, Portugal, Spain and Algeria.
A first aftershock of magnitude 4.8 was recorded 26 km south of Casablanca, about 20 minutes after the first shock. Shocks of magnitude 3.3 and 4.9 would also have been recorded in Taroudant and Marrakech.
For the moment, no information has been given on possible victims. Significant material damage has been reported in Marrakech, Taroudant and other cities in the country. Thousands of people went out into the streets in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir...
