Dubai World Expo Postponed to 2021 Due to COVID-19 Pandemic

The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) announced on Monday the postponement of the 2020 World Expo in Dubai for one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting almost all countries in the world. Morocco and the other 191 participating countries will have to wait until 2021 to showcase their potential.
"The postponement of Expo 2020 Dubai to 1 October 2021 - 31 March 2022 will be formally approved by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the resolution having obtained to date more than the required two-thirds threshold," the international organization said in a statement.
In early April, the United Arab Emirates had officially requested a one-year postponement of the World Expo due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In late April, the BIE had also recommended this postponement. Without failing to submit the decision to the remote vote of its member states, including Morocco. This vote, which began on April 24, will end on May 29.
