Dubai Emir Rewards Four Men for Dramatic Rescue of Pregnant Cat

A Moroccan and three other men were rewarded by the Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for having saved a pregnant cat last month.

50,000 Emirati dirhams. This is the amount that each of the four men who saved a pregnant cat, who fell from a building last month, received. In the video shared by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we see four men - Ashraf, a Moroccan working as a security guard, Atif Mehmood, a Pakistani salesman, Nasser, a driver at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Muhammed Rashid, both from Kerala - saving a white cat on the edge of a building’s balcony. The animal was heading towards the ground floor of the building from the second floor and risked a fatal fall. Using a fabric sheet, they helped the pregnant cat descend without incident.

The sovereign of Dubai hailed the act of the four men. "Proud and happy to see such acts of kindness in our beautiful city. Whoever identifies these unsung heroes, help us thank them," he wrote. The Dubai police managed to identify these men. Each of them received 50,000 dirhams through representatives of Sheikh Mohammed’s office. In a statement to Khaleej Times, Atif revealed that the four men did not know each other before, except for Nasser and Rashid, who are from Kerala.
