Drug Traffickers Lead High-Speed Chase on Moroccan Highway, Abandon 3.5 Tons of Cannabis

Members of a drug trafficking network, coming from villages in the north of the country, crossed the highway fence and drove in the wrong direction towards Kénitra. This was followed by a high-speed chase with the Royal Gendarmerie at 4 o’clock in the morning on Sunday.
Hampered by the agricultural fields in the region, the traffickers had to abandon a vehicle loaded with 3.5 tons of cannabis packaged in parcels destined for export, from the Chlihat beach, before turning back.
They then got into the car of an accomplice before heading back towards Tangier. As for the gendarmes, they refrained from pursuing them for fear of causing an accident.
The seized goods were sent to the regional directorate of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, while a scientific and technical team from the Royal Gendarmerie set to work to collect fingerprints on the abandoned vehicle.
