Drone Drug Smuggling Ring Busted at Morocco-Spain Border

Two individuals were brought before the general prosecutor’s office in Tetouan on Saturday for cannabis resin trafficking using drones. At the time of their arrest, the suspects were trying to land an aircraft returning from a mission to Ceuta.
According to the daily Assabah, the criminal network used drones, with remote control, to ship up to 5 kilograms of cannabis to Ceuta. A wasteland served as the base for the sending and receiving of the goods.
The traffickers on the other side of the border have similar equipment to control the drone, adds the newspaper, which specifies that these are ultra-modern devices, equipped with cameras and navigation systems, and capable of transporting several kilograms of cannabis.
The new weapon of drug traffickers seems to pose a huge problem for the Moroccan security services, knowing that the elements of the Royal Armed Forces of Fnideq had intercepted a similar device a week earlier. For now, the investigation has been entrusted to the Royal Gendarmerie and the Judicial Police to determine if it is the same criminal network.
