Tétouan Flood Tragedy: Family of 5 Swept Away, Two Bodies Found
A family of five was swept away by a flood near Tétouan on Saturday night into Sunday. The bodies of two children have been recovered, while the search continues for the three others still missing.
The tragedy occurred as the vehicle was attempting to cross a road passage running alongside a wadi. Caught off guard by a sudden rise in water levels caused by heavy rainfall, the car was violently swept away by the force of the current before disappearing, trapping its occupants inside.

Rescue operations, conducted jointly by Civil Protection and the Royal Gendarmerie, led to the discovery of the bodies of two children downstream. Rescue teams are currently continuing to search the area for the family’s three other members, despite dangerous intervention conditions caused by the watercourse’s torrential flow.

The governor of Tétouan province visited the site to oversee the deployment of additional logistical and human resources, with the aim of expanding the search area along the riverbed.
